Both Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" and the Simpson's episode "Whacking Day" explore the theme of the lottery by Shirley Jackson. I agree up to a point, but I still think that the tradition, is a bit savage and ruthless. For example, in the Simpsons instead  of beating up one person they hit the snakes. Some might claim that evidence is not clear suggests when the mayor got out of the limo and he had a box, but I argue that, on the contrary, it suggests the same thing then when they the raffle for the lottery. Furthermore the Simpsons  Did a good job in remarking the lottery.
